The new Sonic Drive-In restaurant on West Court Street is set to open by the end of this week just in time for those Spring Breakers who are looking to take advantage of not only some good food but also some fun in the sun with Sonic's new play scape and sand volleyball court.

(New Braunfels) -- Be sure to grab your partner for this weekend's Big Band Blowout, Part II. Tickets are still on sale for the swing dancing fundraiser hosted by The Mid-Texas Symphony. The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Braunfels Civic and Convention Center.

Noche de Gala vocalist contest returns this weekend

(Seguin) -- A total of 17 contestants will take the stage during this year's 33rd Annual Noche de Gala Vocalista Competition. For years, vocalists from numerous South Central Texas communities have converged at Texas Lutheran University's Jackson Auditorium for the annual mariachi singing contest. The contest scheduled for Saturday night is held annually by Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin.

TLU freshman Kelly Jurden went 4-6 with four runs scored and three RBIs in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of the University of Dallas. 
 
(Irving, Seguin) - Texas Lutheran softball opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a four-game series sweep of the University of Dallas in Irving last Friday and Saturday, and followed with a non-confernce doubleheader sweep of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Seguin on Monday to run its winning streak to six games.

TLU senior Riley Schaefer was named the SCAC Hitter of the Week for the second time this season after going 7-14 with five RBIs and six runs scored in the Bulldogs' three-game sweep of UT-Dallas, including a school and conference record three home runs in Saturday's late game.  
 
(Richardson) - Texas Lutheran senior outfielder Riley Schaefer homered three times, tying TLU and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference single-game records, as the Bulldogs completed a three-game sweep of the University of Texas at Dallas with a 15-5 win late Saturday afternoon.

Zurovec throws no-hitter, Seguin baseball goes 2-2 in Cedar Creek tourney
(Bastrop) - The Seguin High School baseball team opened the Cedar Creek tournament with a 10-0 win over Austin-Travis and a 14-2 thumping of Cedar Creek on Thursday, but followed with a 2-1 setback to Austin High and a 5-2 loss to Bastrop on Friday to finish with a 2-2 tournament record.
