(Lubbock) -- More details are now being released about the fatal shooting of a Texas Tech University police officer. A 19-year old student from Seguin apparently confessed to the crime. According to reports from the Lubbock Alvalance-Journal, Hollis Alvin Daniels III, who is known locally as Reid Daniels, told detectives in Lubbock that he screwed up. He allegedly made the statement after he was arrested Monday night. Reid is charged with the shooting death of Officer Floyd East Jr.

Texas Tech officials say campus police made a student welfare check on Daniels on Monday night. East took Daniels to the campus police station after finding drugs in his apartment. University spokesperson Chris Cook offered a statement Monday night.

Student from Seguin charged with shooting, killing Texas Tech police officer
Posted on 10/11/2017 7:56:00 AM.
(Lubbock) -- Many Texans went to bed Monday night heartbroken. The story of a Texas Tech University police officer shot and killed at the university's police station sent shock waves across the state and across the nation. The name of the officer has not been released, but his death was shocking and sad. It was also a tense moment for all the students on the Texas Tech campus, including many from the Seguin area. The campus was placed on lock down while the gunman remained at-large. Folks here in Seguin -- hundreds of miles away -- took to social media to send well wishes to those who were there in Lubbock, encouraging them to stay safe and out of harms way.

But later that night, when it seemed that a sad story just couldn't get any worse, it got worse here in Seguin. It got personal. And when the the dust settled, the young man charged with killing the police officer, was someone that many of us know. If you don't know him personally, you likely know his family. The suspect is Hollis Daniels, 19, of Seguin. Locally, he's known as Reid Daniels. He's a freshman student at Texas Tech, who lived on campus.
