Seguin salutes its veterans during annual parade, program at local park

(Seguin) -- The observance of Veterans Day did not go unnoticed this weekend in Seguin. Approximately a dozen floats made their way across town Saturday morning during this year's annual Veterans Day Parade. Among those celebrating our local veterans were both the Seguin and Navarro High School bands. The bands traveled the route along with members of the various veterans groups throughout the community.

Healing continues for faith based community in Sutherland Springs

(Sutherland Springs) -- Members of a South Central Texas church are remembering the victims of last week's mass shooting that left 26 people dead. A service was held Sunday for members of the First Baptist Church at a baseball field in Sutherland Springs.

Veterans Day parade, programs scheduled for Friday, Saturday

(Seguin) -- Seguin is invited to honor those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. The Guadalupe County Veteran's Council, which is made up of the various veterans groups in the area, will team up to host its annual Veteran's Day Parade and Program beginning Saturday morning in downtown Seguin.
 
Linda Truax, junior vice commander and a chapter service officer for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61, says the GCVC Council is again excited about pulling together community members to help celebrate the lives and contributions of all American veterans. Truax says she hopes families will come out and show their support during Saturday's parade. She says the parade will begin at 10 a.m.

Seguin Kiwanis Club continuing its American Flag tradition, seeking new sponsors

(Seguin) -- Regularly spotting the American flag throughout the heart of Seguin during holidays such as Veterans Day isn't something that just happens. The purchase of those flags and their installation is a community effort -- an effort led by the Seguin Kiwanis Club. The club this weekend wants to remind individuals and members of the business community to help sponsor the individual flags that are displayed throughout Austin and Court Streets as well as around the Guadalupe County Courthouse and Central Park area.

(Seguin) - Southwestern University scored 21 unanswered points over a 10-minute span midway through the second half and pulled away from the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs in a 51-33 win for the Pirates Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.
