Veterans Day parade, programs scheduled for Friday, Saturday

(Seguin) -- Seguin is invited to honor those men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. The Guadalupe County Veteran's Council, which is made up of the various veterans groups in the area, will team up to host its annual Veteran's Day Parade and Program beginning Saturday morning in downtown Seguin.
 
Linda Truax, junior vice commander and a chapter service officer for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 61, says the GCVC Council is again excited about pulling together community members to help celebrate the lives and contributions of all American veterans. Truax says she hopes families will come out and show their support during Saturday's parade. She says the parade will begin at 10 a.m.

Seguin Kiwanis Club continuing its American Flag tradition, seeking new sponsors

(Seguin) -- Regularly spotting the American flag throughout the heart of Seguin during holidays such as Veterans Day isn't something that just happens. The purchase of those flags and their installation is a community effort -- an effort led by the Seguin Kiwanis Club. The club this weekend wants to remind individuals and members of the business community to help sponsor the individual flags that are displayed throughout Austin and Court Streets as well as around the Guadalupe County Courthouse and Central Park area.

Music fundraiser to help raise money for Sutherland Springs tragedy

(Seguin) -- "We didn't know any of the victims personally but we knew we had to do something." Those are the words of Cosme Alzalde, better known as DJ Chuko.
 
DJ Chuko, of Seguin, has organized a night of music featuring various bands -- bands who have each chosen to donate their talents in hopes of raising money for the victims of Sunday's mass shooting at the small church in Sutherland Springs.

Cope announces intentions to seek reelection to commissioner court seat

(Seguin) -- With the November General Election over, it's time to begin the next round of campaigning. This time it's for such seats as the Republican nomination for Guadalupe County Commissioner Precinct 4. Announcing her intentions to seek re-election is County Commissioner Judy Cope.

(Boerne) - Seguin High School football finished with a 2-8 overall record and a 1-6 District 26-5A mark for the second straight season after dropping the final game of the 2017 schedule to Boerne-Champion 49-14 Friday night at Boerne ISD Stadium.

Marion caps perfect district season with 42-14 rout of Cole

(San Antonio) - Marion punctuated a 5-0 run to the District 13-3A-Division I championship Friday night with a dominant 42-14 road win over the Cole Cougars on the final night of the regular season in San Antonio.
